It was late afternoon on Wawanakwa island; the campers of Total Drama Dictionary had been given a day off due to Chris running out of hair gel and needing to go to the Plays Des Losers to get more. Currently the campers were hanging out and making the most of their free time. Bon and Hannah were building sand castles, Tina was playing on her DS with Max watching, Luka and Ross were watching the waves while Ross tried not to glance at his crush and the others were doing various different things. One thing that remained consistent with all of the activities was that each of the campers were near each other and within sight of one another; however, Omelette was nowhere to be seen.
Currently Omelette was in her team’s cabin sitting at a desk writing something ... a love letter to be precise. Omelette had a crush on one of her team mates but wasn’t sure how to tell the person about her feelings. So Omelette had to decide to follow the advice of her mum; shortly before coming on the show Omelette’s mum had given her some useful advice.
“If you ever find yourself falling for someone but don’t know how to tell them; why not write a love letter to get your feelings out? You don’t have to send it, but it’s definitely better than bottling it all up.”
And so that is what Omelette was currently doing; she was writing down her feeling into a love letter that she didn’t intend to send. Who did she have a crush on you ask?
Her team mate Vikki.
You see, Omelette was a Bisexual, though she hadn’t been brave enough to tell any of the others about it yet, especially not Vikki. It’d just be too awkward...
Omelette finished writing and looked over what she had written; here is what it said:-
Ever since the contest started and we spoke for the first time I have considered you my best friend on the island. I admire your circus tricks, the way you can somehow balance on a unicycle, your friendly and outgoing attitude ...and most of all I admire how wonderful a person you are. And, well, I’ve lately been kinda, sorta, really getting a crush on you.
I will admit I’ve had a number of crushes before … but none of them have made me feel as good as you do; hearing your cheerful laugh makes my stomach flutter. We’ve had some great moments and due to the fact only one of us can win in the end … if I do not win then I would like it to be you. You’re such a fascinating person; I always thought doorstep baby stories were just fiction but you’ve shown it can indeed happen and that the result of it can be a wonderful and beautiful girl. I must admit your purple hair is very nice…
I’m sorry if I’m rambling and you probably don’t want to hear this from me … but I really love you. I know it’s weird and might be a little strange, but I cannot suppress my feelings for you. Even if you don’t like me in that way I hope we can remain friends forever. Once again, sorry if this weirds you out, but you really make me smile. I just hope you’ll consider me for at least a millisecond.
Omelette smiled to herself as she folded up the love letter and looked for somewhere to put it; she wasn’t actually going to send it to Vikki but she also wanted to put it where nobody was going to find it. Omelette was going to put it under her pillow for the time being (since nobody ever went in somebody else’s bed) but as she slipped it under Selena entered the cabin.
“Hello Omelette; what are you doing here? Everyone’s hanging out at the beach and enjoying our free time while it lasts; don’t you like the sun?” Asked Selena.
“Well, I like warm weather, but being that I’m photophobic I tend to stay inside on very sunny days … but I could hang out on the beach I suppose.” Smiled Omelette.
“… What’s under your pillow?” Asked Selena curiously.
“Oh, nothing; I just thought I saw something under there, but I was wrong.” Said Omelette quickly. “Nothing of any importance; anyway, shall we get going to the beach?”
“Sounds good to me; I’ll meet you there, I’ve just got to get some sunscreen first.” Lied Selena.
“Ok then, don’t take too long.” Nodded Omelette as she left the cabin.
Selena waited until Omelette was gone and then she quickly reached underneath Omelette’s pillow and retrieved the note.
“Hmm, what’s this?” Pondered Selena as she read through the note.
As Selena read through the note she not only felt somewhat disgusted but also intrigued.
“So … Omelette has a weird crush on Vikki? Can’t say I really understand how a Bisexual’s mind works … they are strange creatures after all; but maybe I could use this to my advantage. If I can get Vikki to hate Omelette then the Bisexual Bitch will be voted out; just as well really, she’s kind of a threat.” Schemed Selena. “Still, this is disgusting; all the more reason to get the freak voted out as soon as possible. But how to get Vikki to see this without anyone tracing it back to me?”
Selena thought for a moment and gained an idea.
“Simple and efficient.” Nodded Selena as she placed the note onto Vikki’s bed. “Sparks are gonna fly tonight!”
The day went by quickly; for some reason the days with challenges dragged by and the days with lots of free time flew by, it was kind of ironic in a way. Currently the campers were in the Mess Hall eating dinner cooked by Chef Squirrel. Omelette and Vikki were sitting next to each other; Omelette was watching Vikki juggle some spoons.
“You’re really good at juggling.” Noted Omelette. “I guess its part of being a clown right?”
“Yep; my mum and dad taught me all the circus tricks that I know; I can juggle up so seventeen balls at once.” Replied Vikki. “So, where were you earlier?”
“Oh, I was in our cabin; I wasn’t doing anything of interest though, just lazing around.” Replied Omelette quickly. “So, what do you think tomorrow's challenge is going to be? If it involves darkness I should have the advantage.”
“I’m hoping for a unicycle race since I think I’m the only one here who knows how to ride one.” Said Vikki while noticed Omelette’s changing the subject, but deciding to say nothing about it. “Anyway, I’ll be back in a few minutes, I’m gonna get some chocolate from my suitcase; I’m craving it all of a sudden.”
“Hurry back.” Smiled Omelette as Vikki left the Mess Hall. “Eyes off her cute butt Omelette.”
Vikki entered her cabin to get her chocolate stash; it was her favourite confectionary (other than cotton candy) and since she had so much of it she could easily share some of it worth Omelette. As she knelt down to get her suitcase from under her bed she noticed a piece of paper on her bed. She also noticed that it had her name on it.
“Hmm, I wonder what this is.” Pondered Vikki as she picked the letter up. “Hang on, it has hearts on it ... is it a love letter? Does a guy like me?”
Vikki giggled to herself as she began to read the love letter; as she red into it she started to blush ... but then she looked very surprised by the time she had finished it ... because she had seen that the letter was from Omelette.
“... Omelette loves me?” Whispered Vikki quietly. “Is she a lesbian? How long has she liked me? ... What should I tell her ... I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but I’m straight...”
Vikki sat on her bed in silence for a few minutes lost in thought; she never expected that her best friend loved her ... though it would explain why Omelette had called her butt cute the other day though at the time Vikki had just assumed she was fooling around. As she thought to herself Omelette entered the cabin.
“Hey Vikki, I just came to see what was taking you so long and...” Omelette trailed off when she saw Vikki looked very conflicted. “Is something wrong?”
“... Omelette, can I ask you a question?” Requested Vikki.
“Sure.” Nodded Omelette.
“... How long have you loved me?” Asked Vikki
“What do you mean?” Asked Omelette nervously.
Vikki held up the love letter that Omelette had written; Omelette visibly paled.
“Omelette ... can we talk about this?” Asked Vikki.
Omelette was silent for a moment before she started to panic.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean for you to find the letter! I’m sorry if I freaked you out! Don’t hate me!” Pleaded Omelette before she turned and ran off as fast as she could.
“Omelette, wait a moment!” Called Vikki in worry, though Omelette had already vanished from her sight. “I didn’t mean for her to think I was upset; I honestly don’t mind ... I just wanted to talk to her about it...”
Later that night the campers were sitting in the Mess Hall watching a movie before they went to bed (the polar express). Of note was that Hannah had fallen asleep and was cuddling against Bob.
“You two look so cute together.” Giggled Yuki.
“We’re just friends.” Insisted Bob in embarrassment. “I’d like to go to bed, but I don’t want to wake her up.”
“Mmm ... Bob.” Mumbled Hannah in her slumber.
Several of the girls giggled upon hearing this, though Vikki was silent. Tina noticed this and decided to see what was upsetting her friend.
“Are you alright Vikki?” Asked Tina gently.
“I am, but Omelette isn’t. She ran off earlier today and she hasn’t come back yet; l I’m worried about her.”Admitted Vikki.
“Why did she run off?” Asked Tina.
“Well ... I found a love letter she wrote, ... one addressed to me; I guess she panicked and though I wouldn’t be her friend anymore.” Explained Vikki . “ The thing is ... I’m straight and I’m not sure what to do.”
“I’d recommend being gentle and kind to her when she next see her and make sure she knows that everything is alright.” Advised Tina. “I wonder where she is though.”
“I know where she is.” Spoke up Selena. “I saw her enter the boat house earlier; I didn’t realise she was hiding. If I did I’d have said something earlier. I think she’s still there; you should go and speak to her and tell her exactly what you think of her crush on you.”
“Good idea Selena, I’ll do that.” Nodded Vikki as she got up and quickly ran out of the Mess Hall.
“I wish I could watch the fireworks, but I’ll probably hear the yelling from here.” Thought Selena smugly.
Omelette was sitting on a crate in the boar house; he eyes were a little wet from all the tears that she had cried out. She was pretty certain that she had lost her best friend now; how had she found the letter? Why did Vikki have to look under Omelette’s pillow? Omelette sighed to herself and sniffled.
“Maybe I should just quit the game; my sexuality is going to be public knowledge by tomorrow ... I’d best be ready for a lot of insults.” Mumbled Omelette.
At that moment the door opened and Vikki walked in; Omelette froze in fear, she had no escape now.
“Omelette.” Began Vikki before Omelette interrupted her.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to fall in love with you, I’m sorry!” Apologized Omelette. “I’ll understand if you don’t want to be my friend anymore. If you’re gonna slap me ... make it quick.”
Omelette closed her eyes and braced herself for a painful slap, but the pain never came. Instead she felt Vikki give her a very gentle hug.
“Omelette, I’m not angry; you like who you like, it’s no biggie.” Assured Vikki. “I don’t mind that you love me; if you’re a lesbian then that’s alright.”
“Bisexual actually.” Said Omelette while looking relieved that Vikki wasn’t mad at her. “So ... you really don’t mind?”
“Not at all.” Nodded Vikki. “My parents taught me that love is love regardless of the gender. If you want to like me then you can do so.”
“So ... would you like to, you know, go out?” Asked Omelette shyly.
“Sorry Omelette ... but I’m straight.” Said Vikki apologetically as she sat down next to Omelette. “I like boys I’m afraid. But I can help you find that special someone if you want.”
“... Thanks Vikki, I’d like that.” Nodded Omelette. “Sorry if I worried you by running off, but I was just scared about how you would react ... maybe if I’d stuck around for a few more seconds I wouldn’t have gotten so upset; I didn’t even intend to give you the letter.”
“It’s all in the past ... but if you didn’t want me to receive it then why did you leave it on my bed?” Asked Vikki curiously.
“I didn’t, I put it under my pillow.” Stated Omelette. “Maybe someone moved it, either a matchmaker or somebody being mean. Well, at least things are back to normal now. So ... since you don’t want to be my girlfriend ... will you still be my friend?”
“Always.” Assured Vikki. “So, out of curiosity ... what is it you most like about me? Tell me the exact reasons, I’d like to know.”
“Well, I like how kind and genuine you are ... and your cherubic face is really pretty. I find the fact you were a doorstop baby to be fascinating ... and, since we’re being exact ... I really like your butt.” Giggled Omelette.
“Really?” Blushed Vikki.
“Yep, it’s the cutest butt in Canada.” Grinned Omelette. “Sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable.”
“It’s fine.” Assured Vikki. “You’re a great girl Omelette, you’ll be a great girlfriend to some lucky guy or girl someday. Shall we get going back to camp?”
“... Yes, maybe I should come out to the others.” Agreed Omelette.
“That’s very brave of you; you’re made of tough stuff.” Smiled Vikki.
Vikki leaned over and gave Omelette a peck on the cheek.
“I may be straight, but I still give small kisses to my best friends.” Smiled Vikki as she and Omelette headed off back to camp.
“Can I have another?” Blushed Omelette.
“Maybe later.” Giggled Vikki. “Mark my words Omelette, you’ll be in a relationship by the time the contest is over, I guarantee it.”
Omelette never truly lost her affection for Vikki, even after the show ended and they grew up; but eventually she did find a nice boyfriend. But whenever she needed some comfort and didn’t know what to do, Vikki was there for her. Friendship is magic...
